The good things to know up front.

Part One

Getting started

Frost & Flint covers a little bit of everything — weddings, engagements, couples and family sessions, seniors, headshots, equine and pet portraits, and what I call "That Random Tuesday" sessions for when you just feel like having photos made.

I also offer Stranger Sessions for friendship matching and dating-adjacent pairings, and I'm always open to creative ideas I haven't thought of yet. If you have something in mind that isn't listed, just ask — chances are I'd love to.

The first step is reaching out — either through the contact form, by email, or on Facebook. Tell me a little about what you're hoping for: the kind of session, a date or season in mind, and any details you want me to know.

From there, we'll talk about what fits, lock in a date, and I'll send you a contract and an invoice for your retainer. Once that's signed and paid, your date is officially yours.

I shoot on location — always. No studio, no rented backdrops. I want your photos to look like the world you actually live in. Whether that's a creek bed in May, a hayfield at golden hour, your kitchen table, or somewhere I've never been before, the place matters as much as the people.

I'm also a real human who is happiest outdoors, knows horses, and isn't afraid of muddy boots, weather, or kids who won't sit still. If you want a photographer who blends in and lets the day happen, you're in the right place.

Part Two

The session

Bring whatever feels like you. I always recommend choosing outfits in colors and textures that work with the location and time of year — earth tones, soft neutrals, and rich saturated colors photograph especially well in Minnesota's natural light.

Props are welcome and encouraged when they mean something. A blanket from your grandmother, a guitar you actually play, the dog who comes everywhere with you — these make photos feel real. Skip anything that's just there for the photo's sake.

If you'd like outfit help before your session, just ask. I'm happy to give honest feedback on what you're thinking.

Minnesota weather has opinions, and we work with them. Light rain, snow, wind, and overcast skies often make for some of the most beautiful, moody photos — so unless conditions are dangerous, we usually shoot anyway.

If the weather is genuinely unsafe (severe storms, dangerous cold, lightning), we'll reschedule for the soonest available date at no additional cost. I'll always be the one watching the forecast in the days leading up to your session and reaching out if I think we need to make changes.

Portrait sessions are typically delivered within 2–3 weeks of your session date.

Weddings are typically delivered within 6–8 weeks of your wedding date, with a small sneak peek gallery sent within the first week so you have something to share right away.

If you need photos faster than that for a specific reason — a holiday card, a surprise gift, a deadline — let me know up front and I'll do what I can to accommodate.

I love to share my work, and unless you ask me not to, I may use some of your photos on my website, social media, and in marketing materials for Frost & Flint. I always do my best to share thoughtfully and never anything that feels too private or unflattering.

If you'd rather keep your gallery private — for personal reasons, professional reasons, or no reason at all — just tell me. I will always honor that, no questions asked.

When you do share your own photos online, I'd love a tag or credit so other people can find me. It means more than you'd think.

Part Three

The fine print

To officially reserve your date, I require a signed contract and a 30% non-refundable retainer. Until both are received, your date is not held — I book on a first-come, first-served basis.

The remaining balance is due two weeks before your portrait session, or 30 days before your wedding date.

I accept payment via Venmo, Zelle, check, or credit card. Payment plans are available for weddings — just ask.

Life happens — kids get sick, weather turns, things come up. If you need to reschedule, please reach out as soon as you know. The earlier I hear from you, the more flexibility I have to move things around.

Portrait sessions can be rescheduled at no additional cost as long as I'm given at least 48 hours notice and we can find another date within 60 days.

Wedding rescheduling is handled case by case depending on timing and circumstances. Your retainer transfers to the new date as long as the rescheduled date is within 12 months of the original.

Retainers are non-refundable. They cover the time I've held for you, the bookings I've turned away to keep your date open, and the prep work that goes into every session.

If you cancel after the final balance has been paid, the retainer is forfeited but the remainder will be refunded.

No-shows — meaning you don't show up to your session without contacting me beforehand — are treated as cancellations. The retainer is forfeited and a new session would require new payment.

I truly understand emergencies happen. Communicate with me and we'll figure it out together.

Your fully edited photos are delivered through a private online gallery where you can view, download, share, and order prints. You'll receive a personal print release with your gallery, so you can print anywhere you'd like.

Galleries stay live for 90 days from delivery. I strongly encourage you to download and back up your photos within that window. After 90 days, galleries are archived and a $50 retrieval fee may apply.

I keep your final files for one year as a courtesy, but please do not rely on me as your only backup.

My editing style is what you've seen on the website and what brought you to me — moody, warm, true to the moment. While I'm happy to make small adjustments to a few favorite images (color correction, basic skin smoothing), I generally don't alter my editing style on request.

Reshoots are not included unless something on my end went wrong — equipment failure, missed shots through my own error. In those cases, I'll absolutely make it right.

If you're unhappy with how your session went for reasons beyond either of our control (a tough day, an unhappy kid, weather we couldn't avoid), let's talk. I'll always do my best to find a solution that feels fair.

The best way to reach me is by email at mickey@frostnflintco.com. I check it daily and aim to respond to all inquiries within 1–2 business days.

For ongoing conversations once you've booked, email or Facebook Messenger both work great. I do not regularly respond to business inquiries through text or Instagram DMs — important details get lost there.

Please give me 24–48 hours during the work week to respond. If you haven't heard back after that, it likely means your message went to spam — feel free to follow up.

All photos are copyrighted by Frost & Flint Creative Co. You'll receive a personal print release with your gallery that allows you to print, share, and use your photos for personal purposes — social media, gifts, prints, holiday cards, framing.

Commercial use (using photos to promote a business, in paid advertising, or for resale) requires a separate licensing agreement. Just reach out if that's something you need — I'm happy to work it out.

Please don't edit, crop, apply filters to, or alter my photos when you share them. The look and feel is part of the work, and I'd appreciate it staying intact.

A note from me

I truly understand that life is unpredictable, and I will always do my best to work with you whenever I can. All I ask is that you communicate with me as early as possible — a little notice goes a long way.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this. I can't wait to create something beautiful with you.
